River Forest, the, the first community to officially oppose building a high-speed train from O'Hare to downtown.

This is a very controversial topic for the communities where the line would actually pass through.

The Village Board of River Forest unanimously passed a resolution against the O'Hare Flyer.

It was all green lit a few weeks ago before our vacation must be nice.

But, um, there's a problem now, uh, with the city of River Forest.

They have stepped up, and, uh, they're not so happy about the train coming through.

River Forest, the, the first community to officially oppose building a high-speed train from O'Hare to downtown.

I like how he intros that, too, by the way, like, like it's a good thing.

But Luna is from an upper crusty family.

a different social strata than phoebe she's from a neighboring suburb that the high school is a you know uh draws from oak park ish place and river forest ish place and river forest uh is uh a wealthier suburb than Oak Park.

And Oak Park has its own, I'm just going to call it Oak Park, its own social strata because there's the north side of Oak Park and then the south side.

So Phoebe is from the south side of Oak Park.

Luna is from River Forest.

So they are from a different milieu and they meet each other in the library and they fall in love the way preteen girls can and do.

often and they have a very intense bond and A friend of mine said, you know, Jane, why did Phoebe make the choices that she makes? And I'm like, that is the book.

The high-speed passenger rail would offer a 15-minute ride between downtown and O'Hare.

River Forest is one of several communities on that route, and village la- leaders say that they're concerned about its impact on residents and the natural environment.

The CEO of O'Hare Flyer says he and his team were not invited to last night's board meeting.

He says he's concerned that aspects of the project are being misunderstood or misrepresented.

So tell us what your program is, the name of it, and how did it get started?

The Community Fridge Project is an outreach of the community of congregations, which is a group of collaborating congregations in Oak Park, River Forest, and Austin on the west side.

And I am a board member of that organization, and I wanted to do something with that.

And I saw a need in our community of people who are hungry.
