Leo and Krash are back to process a massive disappointment after the Rapids were knocked out of the US Open Cup semi-final in a 3-0 home defeat to St. Louis City SC. Despite coming off a 1-0 win…
Well, I think the one thing, before we jump into this game, I think we've got to look back at last Saturday where we did beat Montreal 1-0 at home.
six in a row at home, six clean sheets in a row at home.
So very positive on that.
And, and now that granted, we weren't quite, we got to see Whitaker.
We got to see Said first minutes and got to see those guys, which I thought were at least from Whitaker's perspective, I was really positive on some of that.
So I, for me going into Wednesday, you know, I look at, you know, I looked at, okay, we're doing what we need to do to get a result.
It wasn't a difficult game for us on last Saturday against Montreal, but it wasn't an inherently easy game.
We had to win it off of a PK, which wasn't always the best way to go.
No, no, no, no. goals from the run of play.
Uh, so that was a bit challenging.
It was concern, right? Like, where are we at? What's going to happen? Who's going to start? How are we going to do this? And I, I didn't realize that either that Nico was not going to be playing this game due to yellow card accumulation.
So that was a surprise.
Um, and a big concern, obviously, uh, But yeah, so for me, it was excitement going into it.
Hey, this is an opportunity.
Midweek game against a team who's been really solid.
You know, they're unbeaten in like, what, 15 matches or something like that.
Something ridiculous.
They've been on a great run for him.
Our only hope really was the fact that we knew Hoffa wasn't going to be coming back and playing against us, which was a positive for us, at least.
I would have hated to see Hoffa score a goal against us, and if he had the opportunity to play, I have a feeling he would have scored a couple on us, and that would have been pretty sad, more than it was already sad.
So, I don't know.
I look at this game just disappointed.
I think I was at a lot of high hopes, just like you did.
It was a good opportunity for us to take it into Columbus in October and actually go for a final.
