Today I am going to start this episode of The Bench Podcast with Jenna and John a little differently.

Once upon a time in a town where rugby league was everything, a young boy stood in the stands dreaming of one day wearing cherry and white.

He grew up, joined his hometown club and began a journey beyond his wildest dreams.

There were battles fought, trophies lifted, glory at home and on the world stage until one day that boy became captain of the club he'd always loved.
His colours never changed.

And now, after a lifetime living the dream, this Wigan fairy tale is about to reach its final chapter.

It was the story of our guest on the bench this week, and that guest... is Liam Farrell.

And again, apologies for having to read this out, but he has achieved absolutely everything you can achieve in the game.

Six-time Dream Team, Harry Sunderland winner in 2016, two-times World Club champion winner, won three times at Wembley, five-times League Leader Shield winner.

I know it's not officially, officially over yet, but congratulations on what has been one of, I think it's fair to say, the most outstanding rugby league careers we've witnessed.
