Matt HeighwayHostI am in the midst of talking a lot about when business owners think that the problem they're dealing with is a delegation problem, but that's not actually the problem.
Because what I'm seeing all the time is we keep getting stuck as the only one in the business that can fix everything.
And we're always told, and I'm seeing all these leadership people say, you've just got to delegate better.
And so I thought we'd chat a bit more about that today because I think we always think we need to delegate better, but that's not actually what the real issue is.
Well, the real issue is we kind of find ourselves in this, it's a bit like we find ourselves as the bottleneck for want of a better description when it comes to the team.
One of the things that really resonated with them was I said, you know, I was talking about the concept of the bottleneck and I said, or like it's a trapeze, like you've got to hold their hand to swing them to the next platform and then hold their hand again to swing them to the next platform.
If you're constantly having to handhold, then you've got other problems that are not going to be fixed by delegation.
In fact, delegating more is probably just going to have you hand-holding more.
And it usually comes down to one of three things, like there's three underpinning reasons that you find yourself in this situation, but none of it is a delegation problem.
