Yeah, I want to get to Player of the Year, but let's talk about the announcement that Brian Rolaf had earlier this week.
It will start with the top 90 guys playing a 72-0 stroke play event, which will have importance because the guys who end up in the top, whatever, however many.
The top 32 in points will advance to the first part of the match play, and that's where it gets a little tricky because they will go play this.
They'll have four players and eight pods, and they will play against each other, and the winners of top two in each of those will advance to And yet it will be a tournament sort of without a trophy.
Like, that's kind of weird to go, you know, you're playing for something, but there's no reward at the end other than you get to keep playing, which is a substantial reward.
But then I think when you get down to wherever the finale is going to be and they're teasing all sorts of really cool spots, then I think it's going to be very compelling.
You know, they had the starting strokes, you know, they had four tournaments cut it to three.
You know, it's a 72 hole shootout here this week where whoever wins, wins points are sort of tossed away.
So it, and it, As well-intentioned as it has been, it has never quite resonated with golf fans.
I think it's just, I mean, the money's great, but we've sort of all gone numb to the money that's in sports and in golf right now.
And I don't think the relevance or the magnitude of the achievement is quite what, at least not with fans, I don't think it resonates.
