We're gonna hear how you talk about the experience and abuse of this relationship, and it didn't take long in your marriage for you to realize that and to figure out.

Can you talk a little bit about... 'Cause I think a lot of people are, are, are caught in a marriage, you know, whether it's infidelity or just other, uh, abuses or just being m- emotionally, uh, physically abandoned, and it's, it's just horrendous.

How does someone get to that point? I mean, what was it about that relationship that convinced you this is a good man to marry and a good man to love? Or did you not think that?

Actually, no, I think that is a very valid question that nobody has asked me so far because I had grown up in an abusive childhood home.

So my father was very abusive, and when I moved out of that into my mom's place with my stepfather, I thought what they had was healthy, and it wasn't.

They were still really discovering themselves, and my stepfather put up with a lot of my mother's, for lack of a better term, bullshit [laughs] because she was healing.

But for me, the way that she presented him to me was he was the knight in shining armor.

He came in, and he did all of these wonderful things, and he protected her, and he took care of her.

So when I was having the falling out with my family, my parents had abandoned me.

I mean, they were just doing all of these horrible things, and so my ex-husband was coming in as knight in shining armor.

He was doing all of these things, and because I had had this previous example of knight in shining armor, I was like, "Okay," you know? "He is gonna take care of me." So I ignored.

I literally ignored the red flags because for me it was the safety and protection that he was providing regardless of how he made me feel.
