The Texas Secretary of State's election calendar lists Monday, August 17th, as the last day to order a general election or a special election on a measure for the November ballot, November 3rd uniform election date.

So that's the deadline for when city councils, county commissioners, courts, school districts and board members and even special purpose districts decide what questions voters will actually get to answer this fall.

So by the time that voters start going to the polls or even hearing about the elections and paying attention in October, the stage is long set.

And this year, that is starting to look expensive and very consequential, not unlike many other years.
