The Pasuk continues, "Umatsasa es levavai naman lefanekha." The Rabbeinu Shalom found Avraham Avinu's heart to be naman in front of him.
We're talking to the Rabbeinu Shalom.
"Umatsasa es levavai", you found Avraham Avinu's heart.
Rabbi Victor Miller says, if the Rabbeinu Shalom finds a person's heart to be naman, that's the greatest form of praise on the person.
The greatest form of telling a person that he's an Adam Gadol, that he's a chash of a person, is by saying that the Rabbeinu Shalom found his heart to be naman.
A person's only able to see the external of a human being, but the Rabbeinu Shalom can see what's going on, deep, deep, deep inside a person's heart.
And we're saying, "Umatsasa es levavai naman lefanekha," that the Rabbeinu Shalom found in Avraham Avinu's heart a namanus, a trustworthiness to the Rabbeinu Shalom.
Now, that was only brought out through the Nisayon.
Through the Nisayones of Avraham Avinu, that's how the Rabbeinu Shalom found him to be a naman.
Now, of course, the Rabbeinu Shalom knows the future.
The Rabbeinu Shalom knows where a person is holding.
But when a person is oimed in a Nisayon, when a person's able to withstand a Nisayon, the Rabbeinu Shalom brings out that hidden koach, that hidden power inside of him.
And now the Rabbeinu Shalom found his heart to be naman.
That's the point that the Pasuk's making, and the Avodah Sh'baleiv aspect of that is, "Umatsasa es levavai", the Rabbeinu Shalom brought out, the Rabbeinu Shalom expressed, so to speak, the namanus in Avraham Avinu's heart through the Nisayon.
Sometimes a person struggles, and he wonders why the Rabbeinu Shalom puts him through these Nisayones.
People have various Nisayones.
People struggle, parnassa, health, Rachmanutzlán, other Nisayones.
People struggle with different Nisayones.
The Pasuk is telling us that the Rabbeinu Shalom found Avraham Avinu's heart, meaning through the Nisayon, the Rabbeinu Shalom expressed the greatness inside of Avraham Avinu.
Through your Nisayon, the Rabbeinu Shalom is bringing out your greatness, which maybe you're not aware of.
You probably aren't aware of, most people aren't aware of their greatness.
And when a person is able to maintain his normalcy, his regular situation, even though he's going through difficulty, that's naman lefanekha.
That's an expression of what's going on deep in the person's heart.
That's what the Pasuk's referring to.
What's the purpose of the Nisayon? Umatsasa es levavai naman lefanekha.
