We are continuing discussing what the Ribono shel Olam did for Avraham Avinu.
Vesamta shemoi Avraham.
The Ribono shel Olam made his name into Avraham.
And we're stressing this.
First of all, the tremendous chesed on the Ribono shel Olam's part.
He gave, HaKadosh Baruch Hu gave Avraham Avinu a tremendous amount of siyat hadeshmaya by giving him the name of Avraham Avinu.
Av hamon goyim nisatiych.
Avraham Avinu had tremendous siyat hadeshmaya.
And the reason for it was because he earned it.
When a person works hard for the Ribono shel Olam, the Ribono shel Olam sends him siyat hadeshmaya.
But there's another point that we're mentioning here, and that is the concept of a person being able to change.
We sometimes feel that we're stuck in the situations that we're in, and therefore we are reluctant to maybe do something different.
If a person would only believe, if a person would only feel that he has the ability to become a totally different person with just a little bit of effort, he would have that drive, he would have that motivation to make that move.
And this is what we should have in mind when we're saying, "Vesamta shemoi Avraham." Of course, it's something that specifically pertained to Avraham Avinu.
The Ribono shel Olam didn't change other individuals' names.
But the point that we're mentioning is because of Avraham Avinu's chasam, because of his effort, he was zecher to change his entire mitzius, his entire existence, his entire essence.
He became a new person, Avraham.
The Gemara says if a person calls Avraham Avram, he's a oiver on a sey, because that's not his name.
His name is Avraham.
You change your name and you never look back.
That's what Avraham Avinu accomplished, and we have to learn from that to our own lives.
That little change that you can make in tefila, in taira, in chesed can dramatically change your essence.
You can go from Avram to Avraham.
How? Simply through a few actions.
Our actions can define who we are, and we have to believe that.
