In this episode of Teenager Tuesday, Will Perry is joined by Pastor Eric for week two of their series on healthy dating relationships, this time focused on purity. They discuss purity as wholeness…
Yeah, I think a couple of things.
We are talking about this understanding purity.
Number one, purity is about wholeness, not just restriction.
Kind of what we're saying right now.
Great passage, 1 Corinthians 6, verses 19-20, talks about our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit and that we were bought... at a price, so we should honor God with our bodies.
And it's giving, again, such great imagery.
It's a picture of value.
Here's what it's worth.
But there's also a principle of stewardship that's attached to this as well.
That's why we're saying it's not just a list of don'ts.
It's helping your students see purity as caring for something that has such a high value, like what the Lord gave in order to get that.
So we're caring for something valuable.
We're not just avoiding punishment for breaking a rule.
And the reason we're emphasizing that is we're assuming that you're talking about the body, by the way.
So while in those conversations, while you have those, don't only talk about the body, but also talk about the mind.
And there is this emotional posture that we... we can and I think we need to teach our teenagers to be careful with.
Brene Brown, she's this leading researcher, talks all about vulnerability, has great TED Talks too, by the way.
