Think about every account you've ever created and then forgotten about. A login for a gym you canceled two years ago. A free trial you signed up for and never used again. A vendor portal from a job…
Well, and to put that in, terms that maybe people could understand or relate to on an individual level.
So like if I go back 15 years, you know, ish, I kind of knew which, which, you know, I had my laptop and I had my, you know, like I kind of knew how many IP addresses there were in my house.
But if I, if I pull up my wifi router right now, there's probably like 95 IP addresses connected to this thing in my house, even though it's just my wife and I.
And, and, and so it's what's, what's sort of mind blowing about that is just how quickly that exploded and kind of unknown.
And it's not like, it's not like I intentionally connected devices and, you know, in which case I would, I would be more aware of it.
It was just, it's just, you buy things, you install things and you don't even kind of realize that there are all these IP addresses.
And so in the same way, like everything you do in an enterprise or in a small business, whatever, everything you do is an identity.
You guys had done some research recently that found that two-thirds of non-human accounts are local and that they're effectively invisible to IAM solutions.
So before we even get to agentic ai and ai agents how do you like you know i mean i guess i i guess i just answered the question from my own personal perspective but how do you think enterprises ended up with that much sort of identity sprawl where there were two-thirds of the stuff on their network they weren't even aware of
look technology um developed so far and our infrastructure didn't and that's the the secret behind everything you know identity was designed for humans, period.
Then we had service accounts and bot accounts and machine-to-machine accounts, and all of those came in.
Programmers, DevOps started to be in the game and said, well, you know, we need to back this up.
Let's put some token and let's make it talk to our favorite identity access, sorry, our favorite platform as a service or infrastructure as a service.
And it's seamless and you don't challenge it, but the system was never ready for that.
Now you've got something that is as fast, as quick as a machine, but it improvised like a human.
It's not any longer say, okay, so take him out, take him out from where? And that's where the entire mix comes together.
