I do spend a lot of time at Heathrow for tech conferences and things, and the technology now has really enhanced the, uh, experience right across.

And one of the reasons I was excited to get you on the podcast today is every day I explore a different area and get people thinking a little bit differently about areas that they might not associate with technology and how it surrounds them and how it improves both our lives, work, and even world very often.

And the problem may be with hospitality technology, though, is it often promises convenience, but guests still remember how they were treated.

So where does technology improve that experience, and where can it get in the way? I, I suspect you've had these kind of conversations many times over the years, but w- tell me more about your experiences there.

I think we, we all share the, the joys of the consumer experiences where we can call upon, where things promise things, but perhaps they're, they're not as labeled.

I've got a pretty simple test for technology in hospitality and frankly, more broadly, in travel, where we know we're, we're trying to corral a pretty chaotic system.

So trying to, you know, make things simple, I wanna y- make sure technology and the application of technology is giving the people at the front line and those engaged with making it easy for people time to be hospitable, to give, to be at that point that matters, uh, giving what technology can't and what a human, you know, emotion can do at any given point in a journey.

So yeah, n- n- it, it's often been said by many that n- nobody goes home from a great hotel and says, "You know what? I, I really loved that property management system"-

... "or that API connectivity." They remember something where there was that moment of personalization.

My expectations are managed when the room was ready or when it was gonna be ready, uh, and they didn't have to explain themselves, right? We, we, we find ourselves, I think- Believing technology is brilliant, and it does, it makes things in the moment much easier, and it should remove the administration surrounding hospitality.

But we've got to get back to, I think, removing the friction around the technology process and make sure that any, you know, involvement from people is truly adding value to, to the moment.
