August is an Eclipse month, and the guidance on what we are being invited to pay attention to is — for once — blissfully clear: pleasure, joy, receiving, delight, and goodness are your birthrights…
Um, I would say that this month, the invitation of it is a little closer to, like, a pleasure audit.
And, like, again, I just wanna name, like, fucking groceries have never been higher.
It may feel understandably, like, a little tricky, [laughs] you know? Like, a lo- well, or potentially very tricky.
Um, and I think I wanna start there because pleasure does not necessarily mean joy, and joy does not necessarily mean happiness.
It, it is and can be completely free and should be completely free and is an invitation to really look at, like, what do I derive, um, sensual, as in the senses, you know, sustenance from? Is there a tree that I just delight in? Like, the weather, the sun on my skin, a cool shower, the taste of that fruit, um, this walk.
I know what it is, 'cause I've lived this in my own way, to really be so tight, so frightened, so worried and scared about money, about what we're gonna do next month.
And I can say from my own experience with this, um, that it is still possible to retrieve, reclaim, to center ourselves in experiences, bits, moments of pleasure that happen on purpose, as I would say, an act of resistance, an act of profound self-care, an act of self-tending, I think might be a little bit more appropriate.
So this, A, makes sense because when we are in an eclipse portal or season or whatever, we're referring to, um, in a very direct way, the two weeks between eclipses.
So we have to look at this theme, reclaiming pleasure, sort of auditing our relationship to pleasure, in the context of what eclipse season does.
