In the high-stakes AI infra market, GPUs were all the rage till Arm announced its AGI CPU and showed the world the importance of CPUs in the agentic AI world. Arm scored a masterstroke by targeting a…

Back in, uh, March of this year, Arm, well known for its power efficient processor IP and microarchitecture, confirmed one of the industry's worst kept secrets, I would say, uh, by launching their own chip.

Its first product is AGI CPU, as they called it, and it's a CPU that Arm claims is built specifically for agentic AI era.

First one, as I mentioned, is a departure for Arm from its standard business practice, getting into building their own chips.

More importantly, it, uh, it kind of actually put a spotlight on a market of AI infrastructure which nobody was really focusing on too much and the potential of it.

That was mostly true when most of AI was training, but when we are moving to inference and the agentic AI era, I think CPU becomes equally important as well.

And Arm, I would say, the first one to really highlight that to the market and make the market realize.

When we are moving to agentic era, agents, you know, run twenty four/seven and working with oth-other agents as well, running all the time, need a lot of orchestration, management, uh, you know, in terms of how they utilize resources, how they utilize the GPU and the AI accelerators themselves.

And, uh, as I mentioned, Arm's AGI CPU is specifically built for agentic AI, and we'll talk about how and what, so on.

And in terms of products as well, before AGI CPU, many of the hyperscalers were developing their own, uh, CPUs.

You know, some of the AI infrastructure vendors are developing their own CPU as well.

That is kind of a little bit making the large, uh, IP ecosystem that Arm has built a little bit nervous and also wondering what the future holds and so on.
