Manisha TankHostmean? By definition, the microbiome refers to the trillions of microbes that actually live inside or on our body.
When we talk about the gut microbiome, which is actually the one site that I spend the majority of my time looking at, that specifically refers to microbes that live anywhere from the beginning, which is your oral cavity, all the way down to the very end where your colon is.

I've just thought... instantly that it's the gut but actually you've been very specific and said there is a gut microbiome and the microbiome includes all the cells that
are on us as well includes all the microbial cells that are on us we talk about the gut which is the site that has the most microbes in our body there are various other sites on our bodies probably no surprises telling you that there is a skin microbiome so you have microbes actually there's different sites uh across your body that also includes your scalp um but more interestingly your lungs also have a microbiome So they're actually microbes in your lungs.
But the more important thing is a lot of the microbes actually live in and on the body.
A lot of them actually play very important roles in actually keeping us healthy.
