Thank you for being here! This episode is for the person who is doing EVERYTHING they said they would do and still feels like they are nowhere near where they want to be. The one who is questioning…
Christina PengillyHostSo today, as per majority of our Talk episode- Talk Therapy episodes, we are just going off the riff because I just feel like I'm in a very reflective state right now and more of a storytelling state, and I feel when I'm in that place, I always think about things that I wanna kinda bring on as lessons that I've, uh, like, uh, that I have learnt myself over the years throughout my self-growth journey and also just through really stepping into a version of myself and of life that I have always envisioned but equally never knew it would turn out the way that it has.
And there is just so much to say in that, so I kinda wanna talk to my own journey from really when I started to embark on, like, my self-employed era or my entrepreneurial era, whatever you might call it.
I have spoken about this on the podcast before, but I wanna talk about how whilst my goal for my life has always remained consistent, the way in which I have achieved that goal or the way in which I am achieving it currently has evolved so much over the years.
And there is just so much to be said in being someone who you lock in on the goals that you have, but you don't lock in on the way that they need to happen.
That is the most powerful place that we can be and move from in life because in that you open yourself up to the beauty of the process that is going to get you to where you wanna be.
And too often, people decide that where they want to be requires a certain path and that path alone, and in turn, that actually stops them from ever achieving the goal that they have because rather than focusing on the one step in front of them to get to that place and also allowing life to happen along the way and therefore allowing themselves to pivot as life happens along the way, they think that it has to be this one straight line and this one exact path and this step-by-step journey that they've already premeditated in their head.
So then whenever it's anything different to that, they think that they're failing or they think that that goal isn't achievable.
And then nine times out of 10, they fall off the path completely, and they're not willing to adapt to it actually being able to look a different way whilst the goal, the end goal remains the same and the outcome remains the same.
And I wanna talk about why it is so important to be someone who is willing to adapt in the pursuit of your goals, because that is the thing that's gonna get you there so much quicker than being someone who has to have the perfect plan in place.
Challenges are always going to happen, and what we know about that is that is what builds you as a person.
That is what strengthens your ability to navigate challenging seasons in the pursuit of your goals and actually be someone who is able to adapt, again, when life inevitably happens, because it's always going to, right? There is no such thing as a perfect walk through life.
You will always experience hardship, challenge, adversity, and like I've said so many times on this podcast, it's not about not experiencing those things ever.
But it's about how you choose to show up for yourself in those seasons and committing to being someone who no matter what, you keep putting one foot in front of the other knowing that it's going to get you to where you wanna go because you either win, you either win or you quit.
And, uh, Alex Hormozi says this in probably a bit of a different way, but that's my interpretation.
It's like you either win, you get there, or you quit before you get there.
And so often people quit and then decide that or create a story around how, "Well, it just wasn't gonna happen," or, "It just wasn't meant for me," or, "The luck wasn't in my favor, the odds wa- weren't in my favor." And that is just all so untrue.
The truth is you stopped before you gave yourself the opportunity to prove to yourself that you had what it took, and that you would do whatever it took to get to where you wanna be in life.
That is who we're talking to today, and that is who I think if you're listening to this podcast, you are that person.
But sometimes you might just need the reminder of, hey, it's not that I can't achieve what I want in life, it's that maybe I am so committed to it needing to look a certain way that in turn I'm the person getting in my own way.
