Dr. Deirdre Forde, as we look at menopause week, last Sunday represented International Menopause Day.

And the big question we put in the Deirdre is how far have we come in terms of discussions, in terms of policies, in terms of even legislation towards helping and assisting people with menopause or menopause symptoms in the workplace? So how far have we come or how far do we still need to go? Sunday was World Menopause Day, an opportunity to shine a light on a subject that's become much more openly discussed in recent years, but one that can still present significant challenges for women in the workplace, from managing symptoms while juggling a busy career to getting the right medical support.

There's growing recognition that menopause isn't simply a personal health issue.

It's also a workplace issue with implications for employers, staff retention and equality.

An international standard, ISO 45,010, was published just last month providing guidance to employers on supporting staff experiencing menopause and menstrual health difficulties.

But how much has really changed? And will this new standard make a practical difference across our workplaces? I'm going to be joined by Dr Deirdre Forde from Calum Medical based in Athlone.
