Today on Table Talk with BBYOInsider we are giving an in-depth look at this week’s parsha—Parsha Bereshit—as part of the Simchat Torah Challenge.
We came from nothing, and God created the world in seven days, humanity last, leaving the last day for rest.
But most importantly, everything was good, very good, almost too good to be true.
Until, of course, the story of the snake jumps in, which tempts Eve into biting the forbidden fruit, getting both of them kicked out of Eden, left to wander into the world and fend for themselves.
In this, in this moment, the story goes, "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they perceived that they were naked.
And they sewed together fig leaves and made themselves loincloths." Eating the fruit scarred them a big one, but at the same time, it gained in-depth consciousness, which when we think about it, did it all that bad?
The Garden of Eden was perfect, but as humans, are we made for perfection? We saw that humanity began when they were both created, but perhaps this is where humanity actually started, with the state of being able to live by ourselves and our own rules.
