Parsha Ha’azinu: Listening vs. Hearing

This week, this portion means listen.

So, we're in for a heck of an important moment of old.

Hazinu is basically Moshe's final song.

Not speech, not lecture.

A song.

And honestly, it feels dramatic.

Because it is.

Moshe knows he's about to die.

The Jewish people are about to enter the land of Israel without him.

And this is his last big message.

So, what does he do? He sings.

The Parsha opens with the words, Listen, O heavens, and I will speak.

Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.

Right away, it feels big, cosmic.

He's calling on heaven and earth as witnesses.
