Survilophy - Mental Survival Philosophy: Essays for Existential Coping in Late Stage Capitalism
Sep 18, 2026 · 23 min · 8 segments
What happens when a hyper-optimized, legally rigid system meets late-stage capitalistic corporate desperation? You get an illegal job contract and passive-aggressive replies. In this video essay, I…
This story begins like yours and many other people, waking up every morning to check job portals that keep regurgitating the same promoted offers for months.
This system, at least, allows us to spot new offers pretty easily.
Or it's just me trying to find some positives in this mess.
Like the meme of the dog sipping coffee, saying this is fine while his house burns down.
After doing the search rounds, I didn't find anything remarkable.
I have read somewhere that an American fast food chain is coming to Scandinavia, so my objective was clear.
Try to find somewhere to apply or somebody to send an email to.
I found a way and sent my application.
Amazing.
Now let's wait for that email that might never arrive.
But it did.
On a Sunday close to 12 AM, with a meeting invite for the next day, which meant 9 hours from the email reception till the alleged meeting.
In less than 5 minutes I get a modification of the invite postponing it.
It can happen to all of us, mistaking a calendar invitation.
But men, on a Sunday at midnight, are you seriously sending invites for people that you have never spoken to? Also, invite without context or job description or nothing, just A from company B inviting you to a meeting on day C.
The guys have to be busy, of course, but men, what a way of feeling like a human being from the beginning.

Because I mustn't have been the only one, so it's pretty obvious that for them, working team means full-time mother slaves at my disposal that shall be removed at the first sign of non-compliancy.
There will be no lines for them that can be crossed.
The lack of respect for a person's rest and leisure time.
If you're stupid enough to be working on a Sunday at midnight when your position doesn't require you to, perfect.
Be stupid by yourself, as you only hurt yourself.
But leave the freaking employees or job seekers at peace when they are trying to squeeze the last seconds of quality time with their families.
Fast food has no schedules, but men, precisely for that, why push communication out of working hours when there are no established working hours yet or a professional relationship? So you start accepting that they will owe you 24-7.
I mean, American and fast food, what did I expect, right? Precisely for that, I expected organization, optimization, because otherwise, it doesn't work.
It's fast food, come on.
