Student Spin: A Six Mile Production
Oct 14, 2026 · 8 min · 8 segments
The GHC film club (Highlands Film Society) is a great opportunity to engage with fellow film enthusiasts, work on student productions, and even get involved with local film events to network with…
It starts Thursday night and goes all day through Friday and Saturday and Sunday.
And it's a really great local festival because it's the Rome International Film Festival, meaning that films from all over the world screen at it.
And what's great with Georgia Highlands is there's a big connection between us and the film club and RIF.
So if you're in the club and you're wanting to do some networking, make connections with filmmakers, possibly get numbers or contacts for potentially opportunities in the future, then the festival is a great place to go and meet filmmakers and do that networking.
So you can volunteer to help out at the festival, which would be you could help with concessions or being an usher.
And by volunteering for so many hours, you basically get a free pass to attend the festival.
So outside of the hours you're working, you can go and watch films and meet people, go to the after parties.
So if you're at Highlands and you're interested in film, then there's really no reason, as long as your schedule allows, to not go to RIF and volunteer because you get to have fun at a festival for free.
And as long as you work so many hours, you can just go around and do whatever you want.
If you haven't volunteered, and this sounds interesting, definitely go and volunteer.
Just on the website for the Rome International Film Festival, there's a volunteer and get involved page.
