Season 07 of Startup Pass-port by Frontwalker continues with Episode 28 – William Vuijik, Venture Lead at BlueCity. William Vuijik, Venture Lead at BlueCity, discusses how BlueCity is a hub for…
So, um, what do you...
What does BlueCity do? Let's start off with that.

It used to be a swimming pool up until, uh, 2015 when it was acquired by an impact investor and turned into a hub for circular and sustainable entrepreneurship.
And now we have about 60 impact entrepreneurs at BlueCity that work on various technologies from, uh, solar technology, solar panels, to new building materials with, uh, mycelium and other, uh, structures.
And my role is venture lead, so I manage BlueCity's incubator where I help ideas turn into scalable businesses.
And how would you define an, uh, impact entrepreneur? What, what, what makes up an, an impact in that sense?
So if startups approach me with, "I have this idea" or, "I have that idea," I think impact is not per se about the idea, but mainly about the motivation behind the idea.
So even a for-profit startup or a for-profit entrepreneur that wants to become a billionaire can, can, can have an impact.
And impact for me is about how do you want to wake, make the world a better place, uh, now, tomorrow, in the future.
Uh, how do you want to make a difference, uh, for people, uh, for organizations, for society? That's for me what, what impact is about.
