Holy God, today we first thank you.
Thank you for who you are, for your faithfulness, for your love, for the constant presence that you offer us no matter where we are in life.
God, today we also give you thanks for all the dads, granddads, uncles, coaches, teachers, and all of the men in our lives who have invested in us, who have poured into us love, encouragement, strength, support.
God, it is meant so much to have their influence in our lives.
And today we thank you for them.
And we lift them up to you.
For all the dads today who are parenting babies who can't yet sit up and toddlers who can't sit still.
For all the dads today who are parenting elementary age kids who are running around and high up adventuring and camping and lots of fun and energy.
For the dads today who are parenting middle and high school students who are going through a lot of changes and transitions.
For the dads who are parenting college age and young adults and middle adults and older adults.
God, we thank you.
And God, we pray that for each dad, wherever he is in his season of parenting, that you would fill him with strength and energy, patience and grace, wisdom that comes only from you, God.
May you refresh and strengthen each one, giving them exactly what you know they need today.
And God, for us to come to this day with a mixed bag, thankful perhaps for a dad or father figure in our lives, or perhaps also grieving, grieving the loss of a dad or a father figure who we don't have on this earth with us anymore.
Or some of us, God, are longing, longing and wishing that we could be parents, and yet we're not.
Give us, God, opportunities to invest and pour into the people around us that you entrust to our care.
God, for those of us who are hurting today because our relationship with our dad or father figure is strained or broken, or there's space that just can't seem to be reconciled, or there's been significant harm done.
God, we pray for your healing and for your constant love to support us above everything.
God, in every place we find ourselves, in every season of life, we thank you that you are there.
And so today, God, we rally back around living into this prayer that you taught us, being the perfect father saying, our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
