What is Man? What is this shell of mortality which we inhabit. What is love? A love that is beyond, “I love you“. The infinite beyond. Beyond description. Beyond comprehension.

A lot's happened, hasn't it, since meditation this morning? And let's just link it up with the Christian story.

Only two were left, or three probably were recorded for the, we don't know, there were a unknown number of women there.

So we can sort of suppose that Saint John, by his action of lying on Jesus' breast, was probably more open, was more pure-hearted, was less inner considering the, the others.

And being more open, so he was able to receive more, wasn't he? 'Cause the more open we are, the more open-hearted, the more our love just pours out of us, the more love pours in, doesn't it? And, and all the others, the more perhaps reasonable of Jesus' disciples had left.

Saint John remained with Jesus' mother, of course, for no one loves us like our mother, does he? Our mother.

And another woman, bit of a mystery woman, but people like to think of a romance or some sort of love bond between her and Jesus.

Incidentally, I think the woman, again, scripture's a bit vague on this, but people who sort of- Think about these things, wonderful things.

She must have been quite a woman, a sinner, sinner plus, plus, plus in the eyes of the Jews.

And let me remind you that the great commandment commands us to love God, not beyond reason, beyond understanding.

There's love that jumps off the precipice without a lifebelt, that sort of love, to drown, to die for love.

So there was Jesus with just those three, at least that we know of, faithful souls around him.
