Some moments divide life into **before and after**. And often, you do not recognise them while you are living through them. In this deeply personal conversation, Nims and Stacey share the…
So I think the first moment I want to share I've actually experienced four times, and that's the birth of my children.
I feel like if anything has changed me and changed the version of me that I was going to be, it's probably having my four kids.
It was two months to the day after my 18th birthday, and I didn't have a lot of experience in the world.
And I got pregnant with my daughter at 20 and had her and started my parenting journey very young.
And I just look at the moments of having my children as something that was so powerful in shifting the way that my life went because all of a sudden, I had responsibility outside of myself at such a young age, and I continued that process four times.
So I feel like it's been something that's changed me, it's been something that's challenged me, and it's grown me more than any other experience I've been through, is raising these four kids.
So that's my first, you know, experience or memory that, that I am holding on to dearly and thinking about the impact that it's had on my life, and I'm truly grateful.
You know, I, I talk about my kids on here sometimes, but I don't know that I've ever talked about how proud I am of them.
You know, my, my oldest is 29, and she has two little girls, and watching her parent And watching her, like, carry the torch basically has been one of the most powerful experiences for me, and has allowed me to really understand the importance of family.
So I'm truly grateful for the experience of getting to be a mom, and I realize that's something that not everybody gets to do.
So I'm thankful for it, and I think it's probably the most pivotal thing I've been through.
Um, I've seen you go through your shifts and, you know, kind of how the relationship with your kids have evolved and changed.
And I remember that, um, as you were going through your shifts, one of the things that actually worried you, um, when you, when you were going through a divorce is kind of maintaining that connection with your kids.
And yeah, I just wanna applaud you 'cause I feel like your connection with your kids has deepened-
So I, I, um, yeah, I applaud you for that and, um, yeah, all, all individual souls, humans and doing their own thing in their own unique way.
So for me, I mean, there's so many moments I was, I was kinda like, "What moments do I wanna pick?" And I, I really picked those that have been pivotal in, in kinda shift- shifting me into who I am today.
