Reflections from British Pairs

Wait, let's back up.

Luke Willett and Luke Bone, reigning World Cup champions, should be heavy favorites in any pairs event they play in.

Uh, so-

Yep

... yesterday, as we record this, was the British Pairs Championship, an annual May tradition now.

But the headline, the shocking headline is that James Hardie and Will Robson, the two playing partners that Luke Willett turned down for Worlds in November, they are your British Pairs champions and not the unstoppable force, Luke and Luke.

That's cool.

You teed it up really well there.

Just feel really good about that.

[laughs]

I, I just wanna get you going so I can eat an apple.

Yeah.

Right.

Okay.

Yeah, no, like I say, we came into it, and honestly, I, I wasn't too sure if we were even gonna team up.

I thought I was just gonna have, like, a cameo appearance with some, some random.

I didn't know.

[laughs] You know, it was, it was kind of one of those vibes because Luke really was struggling with his calf and, um ...

Yeah, 'cause he's, he, like, he's been on a lot of planes recently flying to Florida a lot to, to be with Lottie, his, you know, his, his Miguel that he looks after.

And I think that added-

That seems like, that seems like a really diminutive way to talk about Luke.

[laughs]

Well, no, but the, the fact is, you know, his, the stress on his body at the moment is-

Oh, yeah

... is pretty, pretty, pretty immense.
