These two phrases, people pleasing and nice guy, they usually mean the same thing.

Do you know what I mean? So what is this actually like? Okay, a people pleaser, nice guy, he is auto-compliant, which means he eats everything anyone puts into his hand.

So how do you know if this is you? So let me ask you a few questions and just notice what happens in your body as you answer.

When someone near you is upset with you, do you immediately scan for what you did wrong? When your partner asks you where you want to eat, do you actually know? Or do you just wait to hear her answer first? When someone gives you feedback, even for something small, do you replay it in your head for days? Do you apologize for things that aren't your fucking fault? And then you apologize for apologizing.

When you do something kind for someone, is there a quiet little voice asking them, desperately wanting them to notice? And when they don't, do you feel like a flash of resentment? And here's the big one.

If I asked you right now what you want, not for her, not for your kids, not for the job, just for you, How long would it take you to actually answer? So if you felt your stomach drop at any one of those, I need to be honest with you.

I opened this episode talking about those guys, the nice guy who make me want to like, you know, like may or may not rip off their heads, whatever, no big deal.

But if you're listening and those questions landed, I am probably talking to you.
