That includes all of your benefits, so your KiwiSaver if you get a company car or a company laptop.

Now, if you're earning over 200 grand a year and you are in the 3% or 4% of income earners in New Zealand, you're probably pretty skilled and it was probably pretty tricky to find you in the first place.

So I would expect that you would have a fair bit of bargaining power to say, I understand that my salary is 205 grand a year plus KiwiSaver plus a company parking spot.

I would very much like to have in my contract the ability to raise a PG if I'm fired unfairly.

So we don't know yet how much this is going to take effect and what effect it will have on the labour market.

Actually, part of me was thinking if you got offered a job and it was $205,000, would you say, oh, look, actually, I'm just going to say something really stupid then because as soon as I started to speak, I thought, no, Tim, that's dumb.

So instead of saying, look, I'll just go for $199,999 a year, instead of that, you just say, look, I'm going to stick a personal grievance clause in.

You can ask for it to be included and your employer can agree to include it.
