There's a term that shows up constantly in local SEO conversations, and this is NAP consistency.

NAP consistency means those three pieces of information, they're gonna be the same no matter if you go to Google, you go out to your website, you go to business directory listings, you go out to social.

Now, my quick story already showed why it would matter for humans and customers, but let's also talk about why machines would care about your NAP consistency.

What they do is they go out and start building a picture of you by collecting all these mentions and all this information about your business from different sources.

"Hey, this, this location over here says their address is this, but this one says it's a different address.

Phone number on the website's different than the phone number that they gave us for the Google Business Profile.

Wonder which phone number we can trust? Now, if those mentions all agree, the machines, they're going to be far more confident than having all of these different p- places giving different information about your business.

And when machines are confident, they're much more likely to mention you and your business.

When those mentions from around the internet disagree, that confidence is going to decline.
