what got you into true crime and how was the process of balancing romance and thrillers into one book

yes okay so i love this question thank you anonymous uh because i so i i love true crime i i watch it all the time um my my oldest daughter my youngest daughter feels like maybe i watch it too much I mean, when I told her that I was finally going to write, you know, a crime novel, she was like, good, I'm glad like get

this out.

Like, you know, you've been,

you've been obsessing about true crime and all the, the mockumentaries and all the, you know, documentaries and the recreations and all, you know, investigative discovery and Dateline in 2020.

And, you know, so it's about time you, you know, write about it.

Yeah.

Now balancing my two favorite, they're really my two favorite things, romance and true crime.

But balancing those two things in a book is very tricky.

It's very tricky because they're two very different animals.

Romance, of course.

Everyone, the author and the reader, know what's going to happen.

The only people that don't are the characters.

So the author and the reader, they know these characters are gonna fall in love and they're gonna have a happily ever after.

Everybody knows that the second you open the page.

Kind of like when I met you, I knew it was going to be a happily ever

after.

Isn't this guy the sweetest? He's got main character energy, this guy.

I do.

I got some kind of

energy.

So everybody knows about falling in love.

And so it's really the characters that don't know.

So the reader and the author are just have this little secret.

Ha ha, we have the secret and the characters don't know.
