Bernadette Castro, former Commissioner of the New York Office of Parks, joins Sid as the newest weekly regular Friday morning guest on "Sid & Friends in the Morning". Become a supporter of this…
Bernadette CastroGuestSo let me ask you, though, about New York City, 'cause you've been there for a couple of years.
Um, but in all your years in this city, have you ever felt like this, nervous, anxious about what this mayor, and on a state level, what this governor will do to this city and this state?

No. I've never felt this way, because I feel this way on a personal level with granddaughter working in the city as an attorney.

I feel this way from a business perspective, seeing what's happened with the state as far as taxation.

And you know, Bruce's point about $80,000 per illegal immigrant, and he said, which I love, there's an executive order on his desk waiting to be signed that we will no longer be a sanctuary state.

It's not just the big grocery store chains like your boss, John Catsimatidis, who I adore.

They're gonna be wiped out if there's free grocery stores, if there's, you know, discounted so heavily.

He said, "If you're gonna do that, are you gonna reduce the real estate property taxes on every supermarket and on every little local deli? Are you gonna do that? If we own the property, are you gonna help us?" This is really anti-business, anti-capitalism at its worst.
So would you be as angry with the mayor if you found out that when he was a little boy, his dad actually invested in a Castro convertible?
