They Tried Letting AI Do Their Books. Here's What Happened.

A lot of founders grow revenue without really understanding the numbers beneath the business.

What should they be watching out for first?

I think that it's very interesting.

One of the biggest reasons why we feel, as bookkeepers, why we feel like bookkeeping is so important is to be able to actually know that the is correct.

So there's tons of things about automation that are wonderful, but automation does sometimes make mistakes and sometimes it can cause duplications or triplicates in your income.

So checking on your numbers and making sure that you're reconciling your books on a regular basis, maybe for your business, it doesn't make sense for it to be monthly, but that you're doing it, I would say, on the minimum of a quarterly basis to make sure that the revenue that you're showing is actually correct.

When you look at the numbers, you want to make sure that they're accurate.

Absolutely.

And I think a lot of people, when they hear that phrase, they worry about expenses or maybe running things through the company that they shouldn't be or things along those lines.

But income is just as important to pay attention to.

There's nothing wonderful about overstating your income when you go to file your taxes.

and being taxed on income that potentially wasn't even truly income for your business.

So I started the parent company Busy Bee Advisors back in 2016.

And after running a bookkeeping and accounting firm for 10 years, what I really saw was there is such a demand for trained bookkeepers out there.

And One of the biggest things that came out of the pandemic was that all small businesses are maybe not happy about it, but have adapted to working remotely and are very comfortable now more than ever before with having their support staff.

And even if you have a large business and you work with a large accounting firm, sometimes you also need a bookkeeper or possibly someone within your business that is paying attention to a certain area of your business.

Absolutely.

We have bookkeepers that are brand new that have just finished training with us.

And maybe they don't necessarily feel comfortable right away taking on a full cycle of accounting for a client, especially with a larger client.

Because the larger the client, the more the moving pieces.
