Personal Application - Romans 10:14-15
Scott ThomasHostThursday, October 1st, 2026 Primary Verse As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news! Romans 10.15 Expert Level How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news.
People need to hear the gospel.
Paul develops this truth through a series of questions that lead us backward from a person calling upon Christ to the messenger who first carried the good news.
People call because they believe.
They believe because they hear.
They hear because someone proclaims.
Someone proclaims because that person has been sent.
Each statement points to the importance of faithful Christians making Christ known.
As we observe Paul's words, we should notice that the messenger has an important responsibility, but a limited one.
Salvation belongs to the Lord.
Our responsibility is to proclaim faithfully the message God has entrusted to us.
This truth should give us both urgency and confidence.
We should feel urgency because people cannot believe a gospel they have never heard.
We can have confidence because the results do not depend upon our ability to change someone's heart.
Applying this passage begins by recognizing that every follower of Christ has been sent into a world that needs the gospel.
John 20, 21 For some believers, being sent means crossing an ocean, learning another language, and serving among people who have little access to the gospel.
Our mission field includes homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, friendships, and communities.
This requires us to look differently at the people around us.
The co-worker in the next office, the neighbor across the street, the family member at the dinner table, or the friend we have known for years may need someone to explain clearly who Jesus is and what he has done.
