So this came about [clears throat] during a late night conversation between me and Claire.
... which was about raising Prep awareness in, um, West Sussex, or in the whole of Sussex, so.
So Prep is a medication that combines two medications, but it's, uh, an antiretroviral.
So basically, how it works is it mimics, um, these enzymes that HIV uses to infiltrate cells and reproduce, um, from...
So basically, in a nutshell, Prep stops, um, HIV being able to replicate in a cell and then, um, infiltrate the body.
And, um, so Prep is, um, used by, um, gay bisexual men who have sex with men, so GBMSM, but also women and basically now-

the guidelines have changed, so Prep could be used by anyone.
There's different dosing regimes depending on the type of sex you're having, and it's incredibly safe and 99% effective, even over that, when taken correctly.
Um, and there's also, um, really new novel interventions which are...
They've just rolled out, um, injectable Prep as well, which is an injection every two months, but that's kind of like...
It's very, very new, so it's not, like, widely available as yet.
