Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

Giving examples... things that they would appreciate, a part of their culture, things that they would know.

They grew up hearing these things.

And so in order to identify and understand, speaking to them in parables, because not like the disciples who got it.

He says, you know, when they ask, why do you keep speaking to us in parables? He says, well, you all know, but not everybody gets it.

So I have to tell it in a story that perhaps they could identify easier.

But a gem has been found, that pearl of great value, of great price.

When you were searching, see, perhaps if you were new to town, you needed to find that place where your faith can be practiced and where you would really feel welcome and that you could worship and serve God in this community.

And then, boom, you landed at St. Luke's and you said, yes, this is it.

I have found the pearl of great price.

This is the gem that I've been looking for.

And all will be well.

And we stay and we get involved in things and we become part of this mission.

Because all churches have a mission.

And you are right here in downtown Atlanta where the mission is perhaps great.

And you have individuals among you in your community who can help to navigate, help you to navigate all these missions that you have ongoing so that the right thing is done.
