S8 Ep23: How Much Is Your Business Worth?

you know one of the things that happened to me so that happened and then I was like hold on a second So I read a book called The E-Myth and the E-Myth was back in the early 90s.

This was in like 92, 93, something like that.

I read this and then I hired a business consultant and they would do a hour and a half phone call with me three times a month.

And I was so busy.

I never, for the first three, two months, the guy's like, all right, did you get your homework done? I'm like, ah, man, yeah, I was just, you know, I wasn't able to do anything.

I was just so busy.

And so I started working on that and we started working on getting operational procedures and key result areas for different employees and started getting manuals put together so reps would know what was going on.

And then one day, like a year later, I had a meeting.

And I was at the meeting when the meeting ended.

It was like a couple hundred people there, you know, running around.

And I walked out.

And when I left, I looked back and all these people were all swarmed with different groups of people and stuff like that, the leaders and the managers and stuff like that.

And no one even told me bye.

Yeah.

And I was like, hang on a second here, okay? This is what I was working for.

And, you know, the crazy part about it was I felt guilty.

Yeah.

You know, I felt guilty.

I'm like, hold on a second.

You know what I mean? I got a business that is generating hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

And if I leave town for two weeks or a month, I'm going to come back.

And they're going to say, Hey, we did this much.

We did this much.

And I was like, I didn't stay guilty very long.

Yeah.
