Study the daily entries of "Hayom Yom," a book of short daily insights which was compiled by the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, in 1942.
We all know of people who are in the top tier in their field.
So we're talking about a scholar, for example, who has a vast amount of knowledge and perception, or an athlete who performs at top, top level.
We know of brilliant physicians, brilliant doctors, etc.
And then you have people who mastered at the highest level the art of being a mensch people who have a level of patience a level of compassion or kindness that is very hard to come by so we're talking about top level mensches now it could often happen that these two things do not overlap, right? The top level boxer might not be the most kind and compassionate person.
They might be, I don't know.
I'm just saying, right? And that's fine.
Or the top level chess master doesn't have to be the kindest person.
We admire these people because they're great in their area of expertise.
Being a mensch doesn't necessarily go along with those things.
However, in the area of Torah study, it's a little bit different.
