Patrice WashingtonHostIt was such a great conversation about recognizing misalignment in our closest relationships.
It was called, Is Your Relationship Sabotaging You? And we talked about kindness versus compatibility.
And the danger of staying connected to people simply because they're good.
We talked about the reality that love and alignment are just not always the same thing.
And I honestly think it was incredibly divine that it was the last episode I recorded before leaving for Mexico.
So I'm just getting back from Mexico at the time of this recording from our Scaling Joy retreat and then spending an additional week there on my own.
And in Mexico, I found myself confronting some things that I just was not expecting.
Because what came up for me was a lot of grief, not grieving the decisions that I have made, but just sitting with the grief of choosing myself.
So initially, when you make a choice for yourself, you may feel relieved by the peace, the freedom, the clarity that you seem to have the moment that you decide to stop overriding yourself.
That moment when your mind, your body and your spirit just stop arguing, stop negotiating and just make the choice that you've known you needed to make for months or years or sometimes even decades.
And while all of that is so real, what I don't hear enough people talk about is what happens after the relief.
What happens once your nervous system has actually settled? What happens when all the dust clears? What happens when you realize that choosing alignment didn't mean that you would stop loving what you left behind? And that's where I found myself.
It's not wondering whether I had done the right thing because I know in my soul that I absolutely did.
