Text us to let us know what you want to hear on the podcast! You know you should work out. You know sleep matters. You know you feel better when you…
this concept that like most people don't really need someone to tell them what they should do especially in the context of your health they really need help figuring out why they aren't doing the thing that they know they should do right how many people have thought that of like well i know what i need to do to get healthy or lose weight or do x y and z i just don't do it and they think i don't have enough motivation i just don't have enough drive for it like whatever it is um But our job and our role as coaches is to educate so that you can make an informed decision and choice and help you kind of get out of your comfort zone and make that thing that you're trying to do easier to execute, right? Like, we have a lot of, like, D1 athletes that are like, well, I'm just, like, can't do what I used to.
I'm like, yeah, because you're trying to work out six days a week and do all the things – you were a college kid in your twenties, right now you're a mom, you work full time, you got four kids, like getting healthy and getting fit doesn't look the same as it did then.
Um, so we kind of help break that down and make it more digestible of like, okay, what does this version of you need? And what does that look like? So, uh, oftentimes we think coaching is just for accountability where I have somebody to answer to but respectfully most coaching is done online and people can just ghost and ignore us it happens all the time unfortunately so like accountability is only when somebody shows up to be held accountable in the coaching dynamic so it's but also
like our job isn't I don't like that description of coaching because it's like, my job isn't to hold your hand and be your mom and tell you, that's not why we're here.
That's not why we're here.
We can educate, but our, what our job is, is to make like, to help you find the path of least resistance when you're like, I don't know why, why can't I overcome this thing when I want to change? Right.
But it's not changing.
Our job is kind of to investigate and figure out what's your roadblock.
Then give you a tool or a system to make it a little bit easier to kind of like make that entry point easier for you so that you can get out of your own way, essentially.
That is what a really good coach does.
If you're hiring a coach and they're saying they're just there for accountability and they're trying to...
I don't know, either hype you up and give you motivation.
That's, that probably feels really good at the beginning, but that's not going to like last long-term.
What are you going to keep them forever in your pocket to hype you up or to have somebody kick you in the butt and say like, well, we all have the same 24 hours.
Isn't that also not helpful long-term? It might feel intimidating at first.
And then it starts to feel like you have guilt and shame if you don't do the thing.
Right.
So like a really good coach, our job is actually to meet you where you are, give you tools and systems so that you can overcome whatever that roadblock is without feeling like you have to rely on your willpower all the time.
Because our willpower kind of sucks, to be honest.
We can build it.
It's
going to ebb and flow.
Yeah.
