Battery energy storage systems are becoming one of the biggest growth markets in project logistics – and the volumes heading towards the industry are staggering. In this episode of Project Cargo…
And presumably that means that your suppliers can make more margin, right? If this is a business that not everybody else wants, it becomes more specialized and it's more valuable for your suppliers.
And when we met in Rotterdam, you said that logistics is now actually sitting at the table in terms of the design and manufacture of your products.
I think it was mistakes that were made in prior design processes, right? And so the recognition then comes and also, of course...
the work that I've done internally to educate and to make sure that engineering under season sees the value that we can bring generally as a logistics organization by vetting and not necessarily being a roadblock, but maybe having pointers as to what and how we should design a product.
Because if I If I'm not in the room, or if logistics generally would not be in the room, I would assume that they would continue.
And that, again, you're taking yourself out of being able to deliver to the market that you're trying to reach.
And so the weight, the mentioning, all those considerations, basically, come from me and it's a lot of work internally that has to be done as well.
And on our panel in Rotterdam, you said that a 30% growth in revenue translates to something like a 50% increase in logistics and shipping.
Why does logistics grow so much faster than the business can once you start to scale up
Yeah, so the cost per kilowatt hour keeps falling, right? And so every revenue dollar just simply carries more physical shipments year after year after year after year.
They've increased a little bit in the more recent past, but in general, they've dropped drastically from where they were in 2023, 2022.
And so... simply as a as a company and that it's not obviously unique to us we have to sell more in order to to reach the revenue goals that we have and so um i cannot i don't have unlimited headcount i don't know anybody who does that's usually my challenge in overall and so i think we may get to that a little bit later probably um you change the operating model on the logistics side.
