how do you stay ahead? How do I stay ahead? Part of it is being connected using those networks and obviously that's one of the key things for me from the CIPR is the people who I know and being able to say that person is better at this stuff than I am you know you don't have you don't have to pretend to be the oracle of all knowledge about everything um but being able to recognize who has those strengths where perhaps you don't and being able to tap into that and have conversations or use the resources that they produce um cpd continuing professional development and what those sources look like and it doesn't have to be i've gone and done a whole qualification or i've gone and done a day's training it can be listening to a podcast it can be reading an article it can be experimenting with a piece of equipment yourself and how just can i apply that to my work and my my consultancy in the way of doing things too so I don't think anyone has a magic wand to say, this is the perfect formula to always stay ahead of everything.

Part of it is being able to put your hands up and say, I don't know everything there is to know about everything.

And once you've identified that gap, that's when you can start to go and find ways of filling and plugging that knowledge and knowing that it's never going to stand still.

Like I said, you know, I've gone and got a degree in this or I've done a day's training on that.

But CPD can be what's the podcast you've listened to on your drive to work or what's.

the sub stack you've read on your ipad while you were in the bath or something you know that that is all learning as well and it's something i joke especially with my undergrads in their first few days and i say do you think you're done once you've graduated in three years time i'm really really sorry to shatter that illusion but this is just the beginning of that learning piece

absolutely absolutely i would i would go on further to say give it three years in the working environment and you're still at the start of it because it's

changing which is why we do it as well so it's part of the It's part of the allure, I think, of PR and marketing.
