I had no understanding that they came already wired with their own personalities, and they were born into a fallen world.

The first time I saw my one-year-old stand up and kick the dog, I was shocked because I'd never seen anybody kick a dog.

Like, wow, there's a sin nature already in this one-year-old that's only known love and affection his whole life.

So, yeah, even though we recognize that we still have a life, that we're already born, we nurture the nature of our child.
