All Roads Lead Back Home

Verse 8 again.

Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel.

After conferring with his officers, he said, I will set up my camp in such and such a place.

Verse 9, the man of God, Elisha, sent word to the king of Israel, beware of passing that place because the Arameans are going down there.

So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God.

Time and again, Elisha warned the king so that he was on his guard in such places.

Verse 10, This enraged the king of Aram.

He summoned his officers and demanded of them, Will you not tell me which of us is on the side of the king of Israel? None of us, my lord the king, said one of his officers.

But Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedrooms.

A little pro tip here, a word to the wise.

Don't fight against God's faithful people.

Sooner or later, you're just going to lose.

I don't say that boastfully.

It's certainly not a challenge.

I'm just saying an historical fact.

There are hundreds of years, thousands of years even, that show this point to be true.

Think how many causes, let's say since AD 1, the first century AD, think how many causes and organizations and movements and groups have been started that no longer exist today.

I mean, the list is essentially endless.

I mean, over and over, people start things and think they've got the cat's meow, the best thing since sliced bread for a movement, and then it falls apart.

But Christianity is not one of them.

2,000 years on and Christianity is still going strong and it is still expanding.

So don't fight God's faithful people.

God has a thousand ways to defeat you that you haven't even dreamed of.

And even at times if you think you get the upper hand on Christ's kingdom, it just comes roaring back.

Speaking of which, take a look at verse 13.
