Our PGA gurus are here to break down the field for the Rocket Classic! Join Justin Van Zuiden (stlcardinals84) of RotoGrinders and Dylan Wilkerson for Drive for Show, DFS for Dough, your first look at…
Dylan WilkersonGuestSo, uh, as you know, par for the course this time of year before the playoffs.
Uh, we, we don't have the strongest field, but it's, it's a little better than when you filled in for the John Deere.
Uh, and you know, we kinda had a similar event last week as well in Detroit with the Rocket Classic, so, uh, just a quick look back at that one.
We talked last week about how they had changed the course, tried to make it a little bit more difficult, somewhat artificially by just making it a par 70 instead of a par 72.
But, uh, Davis Riley did his thing, where once a year he randomly contends after not doing a whole lot all season.
Uh, but he could not stop the, uh, runaway train that was Michael Thorbjornsson on Sunday.
But a really strong day from Thorbjornsson, ends up winning it at 18 under par.
I know Jake Knapp, Ben Griffin, uh, Erik Cole were all just one shot away from the cut line last week.

I think it was either the, I think it was the CJ Cup maybe where he put together a very good Thursday and Friday and kind of fell apart on the weekend.

Uh, really good to see him put it together, especially showing a seven under on Sunday.

And just to echo some of the sentiments you had, uh, Hideki Matsuyama playing great golf, especially the last two weeks.

I believe, if I checked this correctly, he has had all but two events where he's either finished top 20 or missed the cut.

So truly a hit-or-miss spot for Christopher Ventura with the tied for fifth.
