We did a new role in AHDB and there was some staff responsibility which you hadn't had before.

What would you say your objective was for moving into mentoring, primarily of the new job that you were facing?

That's a really good question.

And you're not

allowed to say

good coffee, just good coffee.

That's been our main aim, hasn't it? Meeting for good coffee.

I wouldn't say I had a particular

aim, joining mentoring.

And did that help or hinder the process? You didn't have a particular aim?

It's difficult because I know some people were joining and they sort of had a particular goal in mind and they wanted something particular to get out or to discuss or make a decision on something.

I probably went in with a bit more of an open mind.

I like to rephrase that as not having a particular aim.

LAUGHTER And I think, I mean, look, Emily and I have covered a lot of ground in our sessions.

In and out of our remit, would you say? Yeah.

In life, yeah.

Well, we're still meeting now, aren't we? Yeah.

So we've carried it on from the six-month cut-off.

But, yeah, I wouldn't say I had a particular aim.

Just to chat about, I guess, get some validation on feelings and experiences and... let's chat things through i think

that's how we are we allowed to say bev you know we do it for support actually absolutely i was going to say did that present you with any challenges because clearly there's a strong relationship that continues but the fact that it was a loose agenda or or not a defined set of goals did that suit your personality to just you know run with that let's see where it goes Well, I think so.

I mean, you do, you kind of, I don't know what Hannah feels, but I worry.

I think, you know, are we not following that set pattern of what a, you know, a mentor-mentee thing should be? And actually, I think we haven't at all.
