Descending into the void - An interview with botanical horror author, Tatiana Schlote-Bonne

So the book has a staggered release date.

I think it's October, is it, in America and November in the UK? And what was the reason for the staggered release? Is that something you normally do or? Presumably everyone will be able to buy the book on Amazon.com anyway in October.

Well, I have nothing to do with that.

That's the publisher.

Oh, okay.

I've Googled this.

Apparently it's...

It's fairly common.

And this was the case for my other books too.

So no UK publisher picked up What Feeds Below.

And because of that, the US is publishing it.

And to my understanding, it has to have a staggered release date because they will print all the books here in the US and then they have to put them on a ship and the ship has to get to the UK.

And then they have to unload the ship and then distribute all those books.

So that just takes like another six weeks.

And then the e-book...

I have no idea.

But unless you get a UK deal also, it's very normal that the book is delayed in the UK.

And it's had quite a long release period, hasn't it? You've been promoting it for a while.

Did you start last year or something? It was announced,

yeah, last year.

This book was actually on a pretty short timeline.

I mean, I'm hearing about books being released in 2027, late, even 2028.

So yeah, publishing

has like a long, long lifespan.

And it's already had, when I checked yesterday, I think it was 525 reviews and ratings on NetGalley with an average five-star rating.
