Today, I would love to ask the question, what happens when educators are given permission to slow down, look at their outdoor spaces differently, follow the children, and begin with what they already have? That's my question today.

What I have witnessed, recently witnessed, is something pretty remarkable happens.

to learn and to experiment and to reflect and create and ultimately contribute to their own ideas to the growing nature-based education movement.

So these educators, they recently completed the final piece of the Outdoor Classrooms Teacher Certification Program, which is called the Teaching Beyond Walls Capstone Course.

And while each educator will eventually join me here on the Outdoor Classrooms podcast, for her own teaching spotlight, I wanted to dedicate this entire episode to the bigger story.

Because when I sat and listened to their final capstone presentations, I was absolutely blown away to the point of tears.

There wasn't one quote-unquote right outcome One educator actually created a business.

Another created a garden that feeds alongside her children that not only impacted her children, but it also impacted her personally.

Another developed a toolkit to help other educators protect children's play, which she will be presenting at a local conference.

And another educator brought... her community together around the vision, her vision of creating an outdoor classroom on a local farm in her area.

And that inspired her for her capstone, which allowed what she noticed, which was then a move towards completely changing an outdoor space in their outdoor classroom.

They all have very different settings and different passions and different backgrounds.

Not simply what these educators completed, which was remarkable, by the way, but what became possible along the way.

It was about the journey of meeting weekly and talking and discussing and sharing and connecting and supporting.
