On this episode of the Osborne Adventure Podcast, we are finally recording from aboard Salome. Unfortunately, she is also sitting 16 feet in the air with her masts down, her floors torn apart, and…
We have masts coming down.
Yes.
We have bosun chairs.
We have ballast.
We have welding.
We-
All of it.
Go.
What do you wanna talk about? Which one do you wanna start with?
How terrifying it is to have three kids on your boat going up and down a ladder on the hard.
Okay.
So little background.
This is for Amy, according to Val, who's been talking to her about this and not necessarily understanding some of the concepts of what we're doing.
So when you pull a boat out of the water, there's a lot of boat that you don't see under the water that sticks up.
So from the deck of our boat to the ground is, what, 16 feet?
A long ways.
It's a long ways.
It's definitely trauma criteria.
Yeah.
[laughs] So the boat is 16 feet in the air to the deck, and so you have to go up and down an extension ladder every time you get on and off the boat, and that includes for all of your water, all of your food, all of your tools, going to the bathroom, taking a shower.
Doing laundry, anything, dishes, 'cause our tanks are not hooked up.
Right, because, you know, you're not...
It's not like an RV park where you connect to a gray or black water tank.
Like, you just can't use any of those things on your boat, and so whenever you wanna do something like that, you have to get off the boat and then go to the facilities they have at the boatyard, which is nice.
They have really nice facilities.
