Kyle Decker-PittsHostLeon SchwendenerGuestAustin Owens-KellyGuestGianni DamaiaGuestOrlando DavisGuestLadies, gentlemen, and those who lie betwixt, welcome to Beneath a Midnight Sun, a Call of Cthulhu horror investigative role-playing game in the third season of the One Adventure More podcast.
My name is Kyle Decker-Pitts, and I have the dubious pleasure of being your keeper on this expedition.
I would like us all, one by one, to go around the circle and introduce ourselves and the characters that you're playing.
These four investigators, as well as a crew of others, are journeying northward in the year 1875 towards the infamous Northwest Passage.
We find ourselves on board the SS Dauntless, a three-masted brig of 1,370 pound tonnage.
It's 160 feet long, it has a 44-foot beam, and it has two paddle-wheeled steam engines and a smokestack that power it along on the Atlantic Ocean.
It has a crew complement of about 60 people, including a couple of our very own investigators.
It is towing behind it the Maven, which is a three-masted top-sail schooner.
She is 65 feet long, she has a 19-foot beam, she has a crew of four, and is carrying some other passengers besides.
The Dauntless and the Maven left New York Harbor later than they had anticipated, finding a crew enough to go along with what seemed to be a mysterious journey altogether, as well as a worthy captain, and... supplies and the necessaries to go on the voyage took much longer than the benefactor of this expedition took place, or could have anticipated.
Now, the benefactor herein is one Cornelius Abernathy Ward, a very wealthy New York millionaire, seemingly financier, an investor, a man of no small amount of means, and his right-hand man, Mr. Rostov.
It took them some time, over a year, to find all of the people that they needed to crew this journey, to outfit the ships, to send them north.
The Dauntless and the Maven have just left Halifax in Nova Scotia, having been at sea for several weeks.
