337. Australian Trucking News and Opinion with Mike Williams and Trev Warner

Let's have a bit of a look before we get into the news.

Let's have a look at the driver's advocate page, Trev, because there's a bit of stuff that's come up on here, which I found really, really interesting.

There's a little bit here.

Caleb posted up this thing about if an officer detains you for five minutes or longer, the driver may ask for the officer to record three things in their work diary.

What are your thoughts on getting them to record in your work diary if they pulled you up?

Well, anyone on BFM or AFM or the new ACA, I imagine, that would follow through.

We've all got interception books, which we ask them to fill out.

But Queensland Police Service informed me that some officers may balk at that, and it's a courtesy more than a mandatory thing to do.

There's been mixed feelings over the years.

Some officers are happy for you to put it down as a rest break.

I know drivers that have just gone, mate, I'm going to, I'm going to boil myself a kettle.

You do whatever you want to do.

There's my log book.

There's my license.

Knock yourself out.

I'm going to boil the kettle.

Yeah.

And, um, A few drivers even offered the boys a coffee if they wanted to.

Yep.

But, yeah, amongst the enforcement officers, there's a bit of mixed feeling about it.

Some are happy for drivers to put it down as rest.

Others believe that it's work and it should be on your book.

Now, I had a phone call a couple of weeks ago now.

An hour 15 he was on the side of the road for.

Right.
